dogboarding

Dogboarding from DANIELS on Vimeo.

A year ago I stumbled upon this great video and although I've shared it multiple times over social networking sites, to all my friends, and every new person I've met, I have not shared it on my blog. So here it is — the product of creative shots, seamless editing, adorable pups, and good music. It never gets old!

summer inspiration

Images via Tumblr

A little summer inspiration. With the weather slowly warming up I've been doing a ton of online window shopping, planning my imaginary spring/summer wardrobe. I'm loving the colours — mints, fuschias, neons, and airy florals. I especially love a fun bright fuschia or coral on the lips this season, like Funny Face by NARS. A shopping spree is imminent.

through lo-fi eye

Often times after class or while I'm still downtown I dine out. And while I love blogging about food and the places I eat, I don't always have a camera on me. But with my phone in my back pocket at all times I'm conveniently snapping photos wherever I go and these usually end up on my twitter feed.

Last night's dinner was too good not to document. I had myself a date night at Fabbrica located at the Shops at Don Mills plaza. I've been there only twice before and I already have a favourite dish: the crab fettucine, mixed in cream sauce, unsmoked Italian bacon, and topped off with a soft poached egg. Delicious! I was so full by the end of it that unfortunately I had no room for dessert. I would make comments about how much I love the decor and design of Fabbrica but I don't have many pictures to pair — except for the view of their bathroom vanity and communal sink, haha. I will definitely need to remember to bring along a camera when I plan to visit next. Please accept my lo-fi substitute!

And lastly, as Instagram has been released for Android I've had my fun fiddling with it and processed these photos through the new app. Follow me on Instagram at the username: amandahoopla

out of season

1 Starbucks Valentine's day edition cup/2 Rose/3 & 4 Under the Christmas tree/5 Doodles on my coffee cup/6 Christmas lights bokeh/7 Card-making/8 & 9 Waiting in Starbucks/10 & 11 Snowfall/12 Abandoned theatre concessions booth

These photos seem completely out of season, what with the Valentine's Day, Christmas, and snowy shots. But these are the last of my third film roll! It seemed like there were so many pictures. All of the photos are now up on my flickr photostream in the set film — March 6, 2012 and you can find them here on my blog under photography.

electric circus: for the love of neon

"Neon love is on the rise; but neon light production is in decline. This show celebrates all things neon and sheds light on a dying art (pun intended). Featuring work by Ginette Lapalme, Brianna Lowe, Alexandra Mackenzie, Kayley McKean, Monique Medeiros, Alicia Nauta, Rajni Perera, Vivian Rosas, Orest Tataryn and Christine teBogt. Organized by Caroline Macfarlane and Vanessa Nicholas."

Currently exhibiting at the OCAD student gallery is Electric Circus: For the Love of Neon. I had a little waiting time between classes so I decided to get some photos of my picks of art around campus. This might be my favourite show yet! I've fallen in love with the geometric prints, colourful illustrations and neon lights. Sprinkled throughout the gallery were little neon army men that tied together the space. The show continues until April 15th so I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area and check-out OCAD's in-house talent.
