studious student

For You by Tin Sparrow

I am writing from my desk as I prepare for my art history midterm. This Tin Sparrow EP album happens to be what I'm listening to as I study so I had a spontaneous urge to whip up a music post. They're a lovely folk band from Sydney, Australia I recently stumbled upon. I am also slightly infatuated with their cover art, which I've embedded below. The photo above however, is entirely irrelevant to this post besides the fact that my little phone companion is rested on my desk to the right of me. I really could think of no other opportunity to share this out of place image. — Enjoy!

LEGO store

482

I know it's been a while since I've last posted, three weeks to be exact, but do not fear! I am still alive, just slightly overwhelmed. University has been quite hectic and I have been worked to the point that I am now ill. Contained in my home, I feel the need to do a little reacquaintance with my blog. I have a few posts lined up and photos waiting to be edited, so when I do get the time again I will be right back here!

Recently a LEGO store has opened up in a local mall and I, embracing my inner child, paid a visit last weekend. The store was so lit up, bright, and colourful. I couldn't help but fall in love with the neatly stacked packages along the walls and how the employees would adjust any that they spotted were out of place.

They had these really nifty displays running across the walls of the store of things made of lego.

I'm still extremely impressed by the kind of detail that goes into these things. They're almost not meant for kids anymore.

There was an impressive amount of Star Wars and Harry Potter going on. As well, in the photo above, a wall of lego! I may be one of the very few people my age that was overly-excited to be in there but the heck with it. Next weekend their holding a late grand-opening event where a (this may sound silly) master model builder will be constructing an 8-ft tall Yoda model out of lego bricks. They're inviting people to help and you will receive a Lego brand Star Wars Certificate of Achievement for helping. As nerdy as it sounds, I may just swing by to take a look at this thing.

If you're living near Fairview Mall and are interested you can find more info here!

A thank-you to my friend David who kindly lended me the camera I used to take these photos.

canteen

Last weekend I had a small breather from assignments to enjoy breakfast downtown at O&B's Canteen attached to the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Soon after however, I was back into doing assignments, only this time my assignment was to take photos of my favourite graffiti. I spent the day hopping in and out of my car to snap photos of alley ways. It's the most fresh air I've received while doing an assignment yet!

The deep, dark abyss that is English breakfast tea.

I had myself the O&B breakfast which included 3 eggs, mushrooms, maple bacon, Berkshire sausage, home fries, and a savoury cheese scone.

Other meals on the table were the Huevos Canteenos above and the Eggs Benedict below.

Everything was delicious and extremely filling. After eating I stumbled into the TIFF gift shop where I found a ton of goodies I'd like to pick up soon. Thankfully it's walking distance from my university and I can hop on over anytime in the week! I intend to pick up a pack of temporary dinosaur tattoos in spirit of the inner child I'm am still trying to hold on to. I also have The Art of Tim Burton on my coffee table book wishlist at the moment. They sell it over at the gift shop and though it's well over the price anyone should pay for a book, it's completely worth it in my eyes. I hope to purchase it in the near future, whenever that may be.
