asparagus

Yesterday I was terribly bored, restricted from using computers and finished all homework I could possibly do without them. Contained in my room, I couldn't think of anything else to do but take photos and I did! It's rare that I even see sun like this in autumn. Or is it even autumn anymore? Maybe it's winter. But anyhow, it was bitter cold outside but sunny warm in my room. I picked up these yellow tulips for the house on birthday when we had people over and they're still holding strong. The colours are just gorgeous!

This out of focus photo makes the stems look like asparagus with twinkling stars.

These last two shots are of my bookshelf though I can hardly call it a bookshelf. I keep my vast collection of Disney VHS tapes on those shelves. The top of the shelf consists of empty pop bottles, dried out roses, small jars of sand and sea shells, dollar store trophies, and tiny woodland creatures. I ought to do some dusting soon. When I do I'll be sure to take better photos and perhaps do a post entirely on this shelf.

By the way, did you notice the new header? What do you guys think? Feedback please!

hector in the sky with diamonds.

Oh, hello there internet. I am delighted to introduce to you Hector. He's a little sweetie pie from — well I'm not sure where he's from. I can't recall whether I picked him up in Hong Kong or Malaysia but he is definitely from either of their airports. It was just this February that I was visiting Malaysia and it was also nearing Valentine's day. I hadn't the slightest clue what to get my sweetheart knowingly arriving back in Toronto two days before Valentine's. But it was when I stopped by a toy store to pick up souvenirs that I spotted this adorable creature. '
Dooodolls' they call them. They're odd little, collectible plushies, each with their own personality. My favourite was Hector, although his name wasn't Hector at the time. It's original and company given name was Cupido. A little part of me wanted to keep him for myself but Hector still visits every now and then. (Yes, I speak of him as if he's a real person)

I had this little photoshoot with Hector on the day I was fixing my friend's bracelet. My poor workmanship led the knot of the bracelet to come loose and so while it was hanging around my house I snapped a few pictures of it.

These photos remind me of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by The Beatles, except Hector is Lucy? I don't know. But I do know this is one of my favourite Beatle songs, though I have many favourites. Have a listen!

Also, my birthday was last friday and I have failed to blog about it on the day of or even near it. I'm a terrible blogger. But expect a post about it soon!

a hankering for aritzia.

7 For All Mankind is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special-edition jean available exclusively at Aritzia. I'm kind of apathetic towards these jeans but they made a lookbook specifically for them and the photos are gorgeous! I just adore them so I had to share. Besides this, Aritzia is slowly but surely releasing pictures to more and more of their items on their online catalogue. Since I was unable to post these pictures to my wishlists before I figured I'd just put them here. After all, this post is already Aritzia themed. Here are more of my Aritzia Fall/Winter wants, all viewable on their catalogue.

feelin' golden.

This summer I dug up my mother's little treasure box to find jewellery I didn't even know I owned. The box was old, wooden, and just charming with a faint drawing of a sailboat on the front. Inside were little trinkets of gold, Malaysian gold that is. It's much more yellow than any gold you find here. An even smaller box inside this one seperated my belongings from the bunch. In it was small charms, a gold chain, tiny rings, and a little cross I used to wear when I was younger. The things that drew my attention the most were four heart charms. One had curves like a seashell, another with a frilly edge, and the last two were entirely smooth and in different sizes. They all kind of warm my heart. To think that an aunt, a grandmother, and even a great grandmother bought these things for me when I was just a baby. I took a handful of pictures while the sun was shimmering on them. I think the whole set just has a nice, warm feel.

Gold, sparkly bokeh!

threadsence browsing

I was just perusing through the new Threadsence Winter Lookbook and everything is so appealing. Not to mention Liz from Late Afternoon who looks stunning in every photo. Check out the rest of the lookbook here or the video lookbook here. After that, I continued to the site where I went through everything! It was hard to filter out the ones I'd put on here. If I didn't, this post would be very lengthy. So here are a few of my Threadsence top picks! I apologize for lack of personal posts but I've been doing so much browsing lately and a lot less shopping/photography. Hopefully within this week I'll an abundance of presents to share with you from my birthday, and photos to go along with it. But this is all just wishful thinking.

All this and more on the Threadsence website.

sweater girl.

"Photographer Natalie Neal and model Rachel Stallings met while studying abroad and have been collaborating ever since. Here, they channeled a Bye Bye Birdie-era Ann-Margret and the ideal world of a 1950s teenager while shooting in different locations around Provo, Utah."

Really loving the photos from this shoot. Everything she is wearing is coincidently on my wishlist. Check out the rest of the photos on the Urban Outfitters blog.

On a totally unrelated note, why isn't Modern Family on tonight?! Heartbroken.
